Short bio 3-1:

3-1 started in 1997 in Maastricht (the Netherlands). Ivo Schmetz and Peter Rutten make a plan to create a collective of people working together on various projects combining music, art, video and graphic design.
In 1998 they move to Amsterdam and base themselves in a old hospital building and start working on their first serious project: an electronic band. At first with a simple computer program and a sampler but later on with more musicians and more equiptment. In the hospital building they also do their first live shows, crappy but lots of fun!

After the hospital they move to another loaction and things seem to go to a next level. 3-1 keeps growing and develops their own style in music and video. In these days they come up with the term ‘pistolpop’. This term stands for the mix of electro, breaks, punk, acid, rock ’n roll, video, live performance and lots of energy.
Over the years 3-1 has build up a very good live reputation by combining music, video and live show.
Often called: ‘The crazy wild show from Amsterdam that makes everybody go insane’. A lot of energy on stage and always those little surprises that make the crowd smile

Till now 3-1 has released several CD’s and Vinyls and did loads of live shows the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Poland and Japan.
Their video clips got selected and published by several DVD labels and videofestivals worldwide.

In 2005 they signed up with the record label Basserk. They released ‘Don’t destroy’, their first 12” at the end of 2005. After that they released a track on the Basserk complation CD (Some Tunes) and in february 2007 they released their second 12” called ‘Take a picture’. In 2009 they finished the remix album ‘13 Horrible remixes’
